Ocean Ecosystems
Ocean ecosystems are made up of many different organisms that interact with one another and their surrounding environment. Each ecosystem provides important habitats for marine species.
Coral Reefs
Coral reefs are some of the most recognizable marine ecosystems. They provide food and shelter for many different species and are often filled with colorful fish, corals, and other organisms.
Open Ocean
The open ocean is a huge environment that supports animals such as whales, dolphins, sharks, sea turtles, and many types of fish. Some species spend their entire lives traveling through the open water.
Deep Sea
The deep ocean is a dark and extreme environment. Animals that live there have developed unique adaptations that allow them to survive with very little light and at extremely high pressures.
